Nosara Wildlife Refuge

Committed to treating orphaned or injured animals, rehabilitating them and releasing them back into the wild, the Nosara Wildlife Refuge Center is a must-visit for animal lovers coming to Costa Rica. Here, you’ll see monkeys big and small, sloths, and other wildlife that needs some special treatment before going back to normal life in the wild.

Most people don’t know it, but every year, a big number of monkeys are electrocuted when they cross power lines in Costa Rica. The Nosara Wildlife Refuge receives many monkeys that have been injured due to electrocution every year and brings them back to health. For the select few animals that just won’t do well back in the wild, the refuge works with the Sibu Sanctury, which takes these animals in and gives them a permanent home.
